The Rock & Roll Cemetery in Ocean Springs is a small nondescript burial ground located near Back Bay and Fort Bayou. It is reputed by locals to be haunted. They claim there are strange sounds, and shadows in the cemetery. The main story reported is of an old lady who sits in a rocking chair and rocks. Thus the name. Other stories say the name came from the teens in the 50's who used to go there to park and played their rock & roll music. The cemetery is locked at night, but from the gate there were some strange noises, like rustling of leaves. Of course that could have been an animal. There were also low growls or moaning sounds. In the darkness it is possible to see shadows and what appears to be movement between the trees. The pictures below show some orbs. I don't know if it is haunted or not, but I believe that orbs are a sign of some kind of activity.

Hi,my name is Kim and I am 27 years old I have lived in Mississippi for 21 years. In High School my friends and I ,looking for a cheap thrill would hop in the car and drive to rock-n-roll graveyard.I can honestly say that I have Never seen anything in the graveyard but have heard things. One night my friends and I went there and on the way in something dragged over the top of our car,we were so scared that we immediately decided to leave. On the way out something ran across the road in front of our car that looked like a big blob of water or something,I still to this day don't know what it was.I still live 10 minutes from it.My in-laws own property on Ft.Bayou Rd.I have not been ther since then I pass ther often and will not look down that road.It is all locked up now and if you get caught down ther after dark by the police you are in big trouble, fine by me I do not ever plan on going back there again. Please continue to posts pictures and keep everyone updated.I want to know what I saw that night.
Niggas have Ak 47's, watch out :(
I went drifting there with my civic and I was like oh shit ghoast yo! So i dipped out and got the shit scurred outta myself yar mean
now I drive a 350z so I can beat goast before they get me lol NOOBS
Those "orbs" are totally just flecks of dust caught in the light of the Camera. Good try though.
i've been there. definitely a freaky ass place. i saw no ghosts but the gate moved on its own. and for the record...civics cant drift..they're bottom-of-the-line front wheel drive hondas. :p
Hi my name is Julie.I don't know how true any of the famous stories are, I really don't have a clue. But I have heard from a grown woman who said she flipped her van coming out of there. I heard a dark car will come out of no where and follow you. I have heard about the flesh eating albinos and I have heard about the things on the side of the road that was dumped off like refrigerators will be in the middle of the road when you come out. Are even something will be different when you leave then when you came. And lets not us forget about then guy who ran out of gas and left his girlfriend there to go get gas and all night she heard drip drip drip...lol I have been there many times. I love the stories. My brother and a friend actually fell asleep in the grave yard after a little too much 420. He said it was peaceful and isn't that what you really want to hear. Peace. As in rest in peace. I think the winding road is more creepy then Rock n'Roll graveyard.
i was with my sister and her boyfirend and when we dove in there there was 12 turns then when we came out there was 13 also we saw something and we flashed our headlights on and we saw an albinl and he was crawling hen when our lights got on him,he stood up and ran into the woods..scurry shiznitt..:)
I just got back from the Rock and Roll Graveyard. Me and a few friends rode out there. We took pictures of the tree a man supposedly hung himself from. When you take pictures of it,there are red and green lights. When you take pictures anywhere else there, there are circles all over the picture. Orbs? Maybe. Believe what you want, this is just my experience.
my buddy is on the sheriffs dept and he got a call to go out there and when he got out there there was intact a man hanging a real man an the have proof and pics of what appears to be red and green christmas lights on there vehicles
You guys are sadly misinformed. these pictures are NOT of the rock and roll graveyard, A.K.A. the WM Seymour Cemetery. Nice try but do a bit more research before hand.
The top photo actually looks somewhat like Evergreen Cemetery in OS.
That is my family cemetery...my maiden name is seymour....William seymour who the graveyard is named after is my great great great grandfather..all of my family is buried back there and i even have a plot for myself already. I don't mind visitors but i would ask that everyone is respectful and its best to go during the day. I know a lot of history to the place and even have the keys to the gate. I believe the old woman that everyone sees is my great grandmother Ada...her grave is located 4 graves down on the right of the tree. I can remember her sitting on the porch in her rocking chair every evening. If anybody has any questions feel free to contact me at samdoggett10@gmail.com
and by the way...the pics posted are NOT of my family cemetery...those are of the cemetery on the other side of the ocean springs bridge...the rock and roll graveyard is on bayou talla rd about a mile and a half from st. martin high school!
Hi my name is Risa Stein, maiden name Seymour. This is my family cemetery located on Bayou Talla Rd. First thing: It Is Not Haunted, second: Please refrain from going after dark, due to past vandalism My family has & will continue to call the Jackson County Sheriff's department if we see someone go down there at night, third: I have been there day & night and no there is no woman or albinos or rocking chairs... Nothing.
Our family cemetery is our place to take our loved ones to lay to rest. Please I ask that people refrain from going down there. My parents will be buried there. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousins already are.
It is believed by family the rumors started with a simple prank and has lived on ever since.
Please be respectful of our cemetery.
I just recently visited this cemetery, and from the moment I entered I was able to discount all the "strange noises". It's definitely a secluded enough location to allow for a wide variety of birds and other critters to find refuge in the wooded area around the cemetery. Sound evidence is specious at best. It's incredibly easy to misinterpret sounds, especially when you have the idea that a place is haunted, planted in your head. My visit was during daylight hours, and I felt a sense of peace rather than unrest. Ada's grave is actually number 5 from the right of the most deeply inset tree. I can't provide credibility to the accounts of others, but I certainly didn't see any good evidence of any apparitions or other worldly spirits. I don't plan on visiting at night, mainly because I don't enjoy encounters with law enforcement, but the cemetery is a nice place to reflect and gather thoughts, so i'll probably continue visiting just to experience the serenity of the location. And who knows, maybe I'll unexpectedly encounter something paranormal there. Also, someone mentioned a story about a dark vehicle coming out of nowhere. You might have that confused with another paranormal location in Vancleave. The intersection of johns bayou rd and pleasant rd is the birthplace of the "dark vehicle" story.
Hi family :) I have to agree with Risa and Samantha. This is our cemetary and I really feel it is unkind and disrespectful to go back there to see if there are any "ghosts" or whatnot. It is kinda creepy I will admit but if you don't have a strong religious background like our whole family does, then you would only see it that way. There is a reason why our cemetary is so secluded. Please refrain from going back there and disturbing our resting grounds. Don't forget what a cemetary is for. And if you have any questions or comments, you can also contact me at hollyd1983@gmail.com Thank you for reading. It is much appreciated.
Hi Seymour family! I am very sorry to hear that people have disturbed your family's burrial grounds, however, I do really love to go to cemeteries and read the tombstones. I enjoy the history. To me, it seems as though seeing is believing....which makes me feel as though I can learn more or understand history better when I see that there is a past. I plan to travel that way sometime in the future, not to necessarily ghost hunt, but to find history. If I am to see anything out of the norm, I will post about it, but otherwise....I would love very much to enjoy reading and helping to create a legacy for your loved ones. Infact, I am quite surprised that your family has not started a traditional tour like the ones in Louisianna. I think it would help others to better appreciate your family's wishes and also close the door on all of the curiosity surrounding your cemetery.
My name is Bud Steed and I recently visited the Seymour Cemetery to do some research into the supposed stories of the place for my new book, The Haunted Mississippi Gulf Coast. I am a paranormal investigator who does a lot of historical investigations at battlefields etc, so research and paying attention to detail is important to me. The director of our team, The Ozarks Paranormal Society, accompanied me on my trip and even though we only visited the cemetery during the daylight hours, we felt nothing but a peaceful feeling the entire time we were there. We took a lot of photos and did a short EVP session,(from OUTSIDE the fence) all of which returned negative results. The only thing we couldn't disprove was the curves; 14 going in and only 13 coming out. Still scratching our heads about that one. Over all, this is just a nice, well cared for family cemetery and not deserving of the haunted rap that it has received. Please be respectful of this families cemetery and don't trespass or go tromping around the graves. Just leave them all in peace.
If it's at the end of a public road then nobody can be stopped from staying on the road and turning around at the end.Going into the graveyard would be violating the law,not going down the road.
"Ghost" are not real, "hauntings" are not real...PERIOD.
EABOD
actually mikey I have talked to many Jackson county sherrif's deputies the road itself is private as well. and to the anonymous comment above, if u don't believe in ghosts get off of the blog
I am a cop go down the road any time night or day but becarefull hahaha
I was with my husband and he was telling me that rockin roll grave was haunted and i didnt belive him so he took me out there and i had a Polaroid camara and i have 4 pictures of a young ghost girl walking along the fence line that was day 1. We went the next day and i was walking along the woods and heard a person walking behind me and thier keys was janggling my husband wasnt behind me he was waiting in the car. Day 3 was at night we were parked in front of the gate and the back end of the car was faceing the fence well the doors were locked we looked over at the woods and there was something behind the tree and it moved closer to us and darted back behind the tree but what scared me was i could see in my husbands side mirror but my side mirror was black and my window was black there was no light shining through which there would have been because of the street light behind us well it was black because there was a black shadow on my side of the car blocking the light and then i heard my door handle moveing i freaked it then moved alongside the car and disappeared in to the passenger back door we were out of there and i never went back
Well I can tell you stories that go way past any of these you can read here. I went to St Martin High and was friends with a few Seymours. The experience we had, first off before you get to the cemetery there is a pound known as Krystal Lake. Where a small girl drowned in. I have personally seen a bright glowing orb floating over the pound and coming towards us. Another experience we brought a Ouija board out there on night. This was back in 1990 we sat the board down on the grave of the country rock stars grave. which a lot of people has heard someone playing guitar. as always accuse everyone of pushing it but we all let go and it was still moving. not very much but it was moving. we asked it very questions with little to no response so we figured its just the wind moving a little.so we put our hands back on it. then asked for a name. I remember it spelled one so we got up and looked for the name. We couldn't find it. so we asked it again and till this day I cant explain what happen next. The heart took off and we heard it hit a tombstone. It was the name it spelled. only the center glass was broken. and what appeared to be a little bit of blood on it. The 4 of us couldn't believe what just happened. With all this aside its sad people went out there and vandalized the grave yard. I have heard many stories about the hauntings out there. And the cemetery has a constant source of power. Bayou Talla runs right behind it, also has some of the greatest places to fish. If you go out there be respectful
Albinos came chasing us last night when we was blowing !! That shit was scary af to !!
I was here just last night ,and I no the hell albinos didn't chase you. A lot of stories about the graveyard are fake.
I am a descendant of Wm Seymour My Dad and other teen age boys deliberately encouraged some of these stories as pranks for the faint of heart I have one of the "instruments" used to frightened If truly ghosts, would think they would attack and scare/ guard against vandals There are many nocturnal animals in the woods With a good imagination and a little help from friends, I guess one might see/believe anything Pls respect our family and do not trespass With new technology, we will prosecute to full extent of law
That road is not public. The road and the cemetery are on private property. The
rumors and lies have prompted a lot of vandalism and despicable behavior. Our family
has gotten serious about prosecuting those who are not supposed to be there. Think
of how you would want your deceased parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family to be treated. Please be respectful.
From the legal conveyance:
"it is understood and agreed by all parties interested in this deed that the one acre here in conveyed is to be used as a family cemetery only. It is also understood and agreed that the said heirs and their family shall have the right to go to and from said cemetery through the NE/4 of the NE/4 at any time they may deem it necessary."(Jackson County, ms. Land Deed Records Book 39, pp. 182-183)"
Those who are Seymour family and those who have buried relatives in that cemetery have a
right to passage. No one else does.
I have been there and before. Anyone thinks of taking pics or doing evps ask the spirits permission. But Sam from what i heard was the owners went around the world and bought back headhunters and cyclops and other creatures to watch over their property and their cemetery and people have been found dead hanging upside down in the trees with their heads on the limbs next to the bodies .some bodies has never been found
When did you get the keys made because it is definitely not locked at night. It's just a gate with a latch no lock. I've been there before I do not disrespect the graves but it's not locked with a key.
You have obviously never had any experiences with it, I have dealt alot with unexplained things happening. You can be a non believer until you are unable to explain an experience.
Actually you are wrong it does not state no one else can go there it only states that Seymour relatives can visit whenever they wish, they actually lost the land to unpaid taxes in 1902. That is why they have set hours on the gate to visit. I'm not disrespectful and I find it peaceful out there.
Look my mom and dad and grandfather and grandmother is buried there have been for yrs and when I was little it was called Seymour semetrey then that was 43 yrs ago
I'm Mary Elizabeth hosli I wrote that with my parent's and grand parents where at there
I saw this too. Though what I witnessed ran on all fours, but like a human would more than any kind of animal. It was very reminiscent of Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
You are correct. These pictures are of a cemetery nearer the city of Ocean Springs that is often confused with the WM Seymour cemetery. And in all of my visits the most I've found evidence of is some kind of cryptid.
It is. Many people think it is the one that all the stories of a rock and roll graveyard refer to.
My friends and I used to go in high school, 1975- 1977. Pretty creepy!
My buddy and I took our GFs to Rock and Roll graveyard one time. We told them we were going to go look around and for them to wait in the car. We walked in one direction but soon as we were out of sight we circled around and snuck up to the back of the car. We scared them so bad, my GF ripped a button right off the other girls shirt. Good times.
Go fuck yourself.
Ive been multiple times but last night which was my birthday we went and we saw a figure hunched over near the woods. When we Shinedown our lights over there it ran away
I've been numerous times but we went back last night and it's interesting because we never knew a man hung himself there however we saw a figure hanging from a free and when we took a picture it was gone
When we went last night we saw a figure hanging from a tree but when we took a a picture it was gone. It makes sense now
From all the times I've been it's definitely been a creepy experience. I mean figures, people getting scratched, seeing a figure hanging, deep growls saying to leave and get out hair being pulled I could go on
I've always respected the graves when visiting and making sure to not even stow on the graves. I know it may sound weird but every time I've went I've seen the elderly lady. The first time I went we felt bad energy and heard growling and scratches. I got a feeling telling me to go back and I heard a elderly ladies voice tell me to leave it wasn't safe. I went back to the car while my friends looked some more and they ended duo having deep scratch marks on them and had a large rock thrown there way. The toher times she has just watched me and looked as if she was looking out for stuff. I'd also like to add they don't keep it locked anymore.
I'm respectful of the cemetery however we have had cops let us be there at night since they saw we were being respectful however they told us to be careful. Also please don't try to hide the fact it is haunted and there is demonic energy whether you want to believe it or not. There is also tons of people who are in the Seymour family who have even stated it's haunted and how none of the family cared if people went there day or night as long as they showed respect even a great great great great granddaughter of william Seymour said the family didn't care as long as they were respectful and how she had her own experiences there.
Weird because one stopped us at night and told us we were allowed to be there as long as we were respectful and not vandalizing it 🤷🏼♀️
How does it feel to be 40 now?
One time me and my friends were in the graveyard and we were smoking weed and then my blunt flew around like a broomstick and went up my ass and I was high as fuck and Jenna Lawrence sucked my dick while the blunt was up my ass then Dalton dotilla came in my mouth OUT OFWHERE and meatballs ass smelled so bad cause he pulled down his pants because he felt a ghost plucking his pubes
I went there by accident and me and my lil bro saw the entire ghost family and a vintage white house with a candle lit on the porch, they didn't seem to notice us but they were walking around in circles about their own grave and I literally said NOPE and dipped out as fast as I could. My little brother asked if we can come back to see those ghosts again so I did... except this time the house was never there!!!!
Awesome
